Mobile Preschool Peer Support Sessions

Intensive Peer Support sessions were delivered in 2016. These sessions were free for all mobile preschools. This series was a collaboration effort between MCSA and Contact Inc. and funded by the Department of Education as part of the Early Childhood Education and Care Sector Development Program.

The goal of the Peer Support series was to engage in a guided professional conversation around key topics, share and address concerns as a group and build capacity together.

All resources developed for the series are available on our website under the Publications Tab.

The following sessions were presented during the series.

Unlocking Your Service Story - Communicating Your Professional Confidence

Presented by Bec Lloyd, Bec and Call Communications for Education

This session encouraged mobile preschools to identify their sense of professional confidence and to demonstrate it in ways that will help build trust and value in communities. The key elements were discussed in a Unique Value Proposition, which is a clear statement that explains why your service is relevant, delivers specific benefits and is different from other services. Participants had the opportunity to trouble shoot and share ways to communicate the magic of mobile preschools.

Grant and Tender Writing 101

Presented by Michele Carnegie, Contact Inc.

This Peer Support session provided information on gaining a clear understanding of the current funding environment, information needed to be "grant ready", including how to apply your Unique Value Proposition, where to find grants and how start writing. Participants had the opportunity to share their experiences, barriers and successes and start a peer led conversation about gaining additional funds for their mobile preschool service.

Reach a Little Further

Building on Inclusion Strategies in a mobile setting (Part 1)

Presented by Kerrie Maguire, Contact Inc.

Involvement in high quality early childhood education can mitigate some of the negative impacts that disadvantage can have on children. Family's experiences of social isolation can impact negatively on their child's development. Supporting families to connect within their community is therefore also supporting children to reach their developmental milestones. Mobile preschools are in a strong position to support these children and have a positive long-term impact on their lives. This session looked at case studies, starting discussions around reflective questions and supported goal setting as a result of enthusiastic discussion around this integral topic.

Reach a Little Further

Building on Inclusion Strategies in a mobile session (Part 2)
Presented by Kerrie Maguire, Contact Inc.

Mobile preschools are in a strong position to support disadvantaged children and families and have a positive long-term impact on their lives. This session continued the conversation, looked at case studies, reflective questions and supported goal setting as a result of healthy discussion around this integral topic.

DELIVERY

Due to the vast distances mobilers are located across NSW, the series was conducted via webinar. Webinars are live sessions attended online. It enabled a group to interact and share common experiences in real time with fellow mobilers and the presenters. Material resources were provided to services throughout the series based on the topics.
